Trapezoidal Glue Joint Cutter – DS Steel | Working Range 20–50 mm
Bore-type cutter with a heat-treated steel body and black oxide finish, brazed with DS Steel inserts, with a special profile for strong joining and gluing of solid wood panels, edge-to-edge or end-to-end. The trapezoidal tooth geometry (glue joint) increases the gluing surface and ensures precise self-alignment of the boards when clamping. The cutter is reversible — the same tool runs the first board face up and the second board face down, giving a perfect male-female joint without changing the spindle height. Working range 20–50 mm.

✨ FEATURES AND PERFORMANCE:
-
Maximum Gluing Surface: the trapezoidal tooth geometry significantly increases the contact area compared to a butt joint, improving mechanical resistance to bending and pressure.
-
Precise Self-Alignment: the male-female profiles fit perfectly into each other when clamping, preventing the boards from slipping in height while tightening the clamps.
-
One Reversible Cutter: no need for a matched pair — the same tool runs the first board face up and the second face down, giving a perfect male-female joint without changing the spindle height.
-
Wide 20–50 mm Range: covers most common thicknesses of panels, worktops and laminated elements without changing the tool.
-
Production Efficiency: ideal for making table tops, solid wood doors, stair tread panels and glued laminated elements.
-
Bore with Bushings Included: Ø32 mm standard, with collared bushings for Ø30 mm included — immediate compatibility with both spindle sizes.
⚠️ LIMITATIONS OF USE (DS STEEL):
-
❌ NOT recommended for chipboard, MDF, HDF or exotic wood! Intended exclusively for natural softwood (conifers, linden, etc.).
- For industrial volumes or hardwood, choose the superior HSS M2 or HW (K40) versions.
-
Ideal for: joinery workshops, solid wood furniture and softwood-based projects.
📊 COMPATIBILITY BY MATERIAL TYPE (DS STEEL)
Softwood (Fir, Spruce, Pine, Linden)
90%
Good / economical: solid results on conifers, the ideal low-cost option.
Hardwood (Beech, Oak, Ash)
40%
Poor: rapid dulling of the inserts on hardwoods – we recommend HSS M2 or HW (K40) for this case.
Chipboard / MDF / HDF / Composite
Not recommended
The synthetic binder wears DS Steel inserts prematurely.
💡 Conclusion: working with fir, spruce or pine for glued worktops and panels? The DS Steel version is the perfect choice in terms of cost. For hardwoods or large industrial volumes, superior HSS M2 and HW (K40) versions are available in our catalogue.
🦺 SAFETY MEASURES:
-
Mandatory protective equipment: safety glasses (flying chips), dust mask or respirator (fine wood dust) and ear protection during prolonged work.
-
Watch your hands and fingers: use push sticks and guides when machining parts; do not guide the workpiece by hand close to the cutter.
-
Check the mounting of the cutter and bushings on the spindle, and that the nut is fully tightened before starting.
-
Observe the recommended speed (6,000 RPM) to avoid vibration or damage to the inserts.
-
Do not force the feed on hardwoods — DS Steel inserts dull quickly under excessive pressure; reduce the feed rate or switch to another material version.
