Professional bore-type shaper cutter for rounding wood edges with a concave quarter-round profile, Bottom Radius configuration (cutting below the workpiece) – for spindle moulder work with a fence, with the workpiece passing over the tool. The range covers radii from R3 to R60 mm, from fine decorative roundings to large profiles for posts, stairs, rustic furniture or beams. Available in HSS M2 and HW (K40) – select material, radius and bore from the menu.

🚀 PROPERTIES AND PERFORMANCE:

  • Bottom Radius Configuration: the profile is cut below the workpiece on a spindle moulder with a fence – the workpiece passes over the tool and the machined face stays visible and protected.
  • Complete R3–R60 Range: from fine decorative roundings to large profiles for posts, stairs and beams. Exact dimensions are on the technical drawing of each radius.
  • HSS M2 for Solid Wood: the very sharp edge cleanly cuts softwood fibres (spruce, fir, pine) without tear-out or burn marks on the profile.
  • HW (K40) for Hardwood and Boards: VK15 carbide tips withstand the abrasive wear of chipboard, MDF and HDF, while their high toughness protects them from impacts at knots.
  • Z4 Configuration: 4 brazed tips distribute the cutting load evenly, with low vibration and a consistent finish.
  • Repeated Resharpening: resharpening is done on the rake face of the tip, without changing the profile radius.
  • Custom Radius on Request: for a radius outside the R3–R60 range, contact us with your technical drawing.

💡 For high-volume hardwood work or chipboard / MDF / HDF, choose the HW (K40) variant, which is far more resistant to abrasive wear.

⚠️ USAGE LIMITATIONS:

  • HSS M2 variant: ❌ NOT recommended for chipboard, MDF, HDF or panels with synthetic adhesives – choose HW (K40) for these materials.
  • HW (K40) variant on softwood: requires a constant feed rate – letting the cutter dwell in resinous species can cause local burning.
  • Resharpening: we recommend a specialised service centre to keep the original cutting angle – incorrect resharpening reduces cutting efficiency.

💡 Buying recommendations:
  1. HSS M2 – for solid wood: ideal on softwoods and hardwoods; the edge sharpens finer and leaves the quarter round smooth straight off the machine, without the micro-burns carbide can leave on softwood.
  2. HW (K40) – for boards and intensive production: essential for MDF, chipboard, HDF, exotic species or high-volume hardwood, where it lasts much longer between resharpenings.
  3. Check the dimensions: each radius has a technical drawing in the image gallery – check the diameter (D) and bore before ordering.
  4. Simple configuration: select the material (HSS M2 / HW K40), radius (R3–R60) and the bore matching your machine spindle.
