💎 WHY CHOOSE THIS CUTTER:
- Integrated Handles, No Metal Hardware: the profile is machined directly into the edge of the cabinet or drawer front, eliminating applied handles – clean, minimalist, modern design.
- Profile Versatility: several geometries in stock – see the attached technical drawings to choose the right profile for your project.
- Can be run along the full length of the edge or only on a defined section of the front.
- Dynamic Balancing: the cutter body is precision-machined to reduce vibration and protect the machine's spindle bearings.
- Long-Term Investment: the tips can be resharpened, and after heavy wear the cutter body can be re-tipped.
💡 Tip: for a flawless result on hardwoods or MDF, use a constant feed and, where needed, a 0.5 mm finishing pass.
⚠️ LIMITATIONS:
- HSS M2 version: ❌ not recommended for chipboard, MDF, HDF or very hard exotic wood – the resin binder wears the high-speed steel edge prematurely.
- HW (K40) version on softwood: requires a constant feed – letting the spinning cutter dwell in one spot on resinous wood can cause local burning.
🛠️ SELECTION GUIDE: HSS M2 vs. HW (K40)
The cutting material directly affects finish quality and tool life (swipe left-right on mobile to see the full table):
| Workpiece Material |
HSS M2 (6% W · 5% Mo / Р6М5) |
HW (K40) ⭐ (85% WC · 15% Co / ВК15) |
Softwood (Fir, Spruce, Pine) | ⭐ 100% (No Burning) | ⚠️ Burn risk (Constant feed required) |
Hardwood (Beech, Oak, Ash) | 80% (Efficient) | ⭐ 100% (Durable) |
| MDF / Chipboard / HDF / Melamine | Not recommended | ⭐ 100% (Optimal) |
| Exotic Wood / Composites | Do not use | ⭐ 100% (Maximum) |
| Knots | ✅ Resistant (HSS absorbs impact) | ⚠️ Chipping risk (K40 is a tough grade, but carbide is still more impact-sensitive than HSS) |
| Tip Thickness | 6 mm (Maximum) | 3 mm |
| Cutting Edge Hardness | 63 – 65 HRC | 86 – 87 HRA |
💡 Buying advice:
- Working with fir, spruce or pine? Choose HSS M2 – clean finish, no burn marks, handles knots well.
- Working with oak, beech, MDF or melamine-faced chipboard? Choose HW (K40) – withstands abrasive wear and leaves clean edges on wood-based panels.
- Which model? Compare the geometries in the attached technical drawings and choose the profile that suits your furniture front.
🦺 SAFETY:
- Mandatory protective equipment: safety glasses (flying chips), dust mask or respirator (fine wood / MDF dust) and hearing protection for prolonged work.
- Protect your hands: use fences, guides and push devices; never guide the workpiece by hand close to the cutter.
- Check that the cutter is seated on the spindle and the nut is fully tightened before starting.
- Do not exceed the recommended speed of 6,000 RPM.
- Resharpening: have the cutter resharpened at a specialist service to preserve the original handle profile geometry.
