ROTOR RBW8 Wood Twist Drill Bit Set – 8 Pieces (3–10 mm)

The ROTOR RBW8 set contains 8 twist drill bits for wood, from 3 to 10 mm in 1 mm steps, designed for precise drilling in solid wood (softwood and hardwood), particleboard, MDF, OSB, plywood and engineered wood panels. Each bit has a sharp brad (centring) point and side cutting spurs: the point locks the bit exactly on the marked spot, while the spurs cut the wood fibres before the flute enters the material — giving round holes with clean edges and minimal tear-out.

Made of heat-treated carbon steel (HCS), the ROTOR RBW8 bits cover the sizes used every day in joinery, furniture assembly and fit-out work: pilot holes for wood screws, wooden dowels, hardware and joints. Deep spiral flutes continuously clear sawdust, preventing overheating and binding in the material. The standard cylindrical shank fits any drill chuck, corded or cordless.

💎 KEY ADVANTAGES:

  • Accurate Centring Point: the bit starts exactly on the marked spot without skating across the wood surface — no pre-punching needed.
  • Clean Holes, Minimal Tear-Out: the side spurs cut the wood fibres before the flute enters, leaving a fine, well-defined edge, even on finished surfaces.
  • Complete 3–10 mm Range in 1 mm Steps: one set for wood screw pilot holes, 6, 8 and 10 mm wooden dowels, hardware and furniture joints.
  • Efficient Sawdust Removal: deep spiral flutes clear chips continuously, keep the cutting edge cool and extend bit life.
  • Universal Cylindrical Shank: fits any standard chuck, no adapters needed.

⚠️ USAGE LIMITATIONS:

  • ❌ DO NOT use on metal, stone, concrete or ceramics — the centring point and side spurs are destroyed within seconds; these bits are designed exclusively for wood and wood-based materials.
  • ❌ DO NOT use in hammer (impact) mode — hammer action breaks the centring point and deforms the side spurs.
  • Carbon steel (HCS) in particleboard, MDF and OSB: the resins and adhesives in board materials are abrasive, so the edge dulls faster than in solid wood. For series drilling in boards, we recommend HSS or carbide-tipped (TCT) bits.
  • Deep holes: withdraw the bit periodically to clear sawdust — avoid binding and overheating, especially with small diameters.

💡 WORKSHOP TIP:

When drilling holes for wooden dowels (6, 8 or 10 mm), fit a depth stop collar on the bit so that all holes have exactly the same depth. For through-holes without tear-out on the exit side, clamp a scrap backing board under the workpiece.

🦺 SAFETY MEASURES:

  • ❌ DO NOT wear gloves while drilling — a glove can be caught by the rotating bit and pull your hand towards the chuck.
  • Clamp the workpiece securely (vice or clamps) before drilling — an unsecured piece can spin with the bit.
  • Wear safety glasses — chips and sawdust are thrown out of the cutting zone at speed.
  • Check that the bit is tight in the chuck before starting — a loose grip causes runout and oval holes.
  • Small diameters (3–4 mm) break easily — keep the drill perpendicular to the workpiece and avoid side loading the bit.
  • Do not force the feed through knots or very hard areas — let the bit cut at its own pace.
