Profiled shaper cutter with bore for producing raised panels on a stationary spindle moulder, available in two diameters (160 mm and 200 mm), three material options (DS Steel, HSS M2 or HW (K40) – tungsten carbide) and two working positions (above or below the workpiece) – all selectable from the menu. Commonly used for producing solid wood doors, panelled furniture and decorative wood elements.

  • Fine, Precise Cut: whichever material you choose, the brazed tips deliver a consistent cut and a finish straight off the cutter, ready for staining or lacquering.
  • Z4 Configuration: the 4 tips distribute the cutting load evenly, without tear-out.
  • 3 Investment Levels: DS Steel for low cost on softwood, HSS M2 for a performance–price balance, HW (K40) for industrial volume, hardwood and abrasive materials.
  • Long-Term Investment: the tips can be resharpened repeatedly at a specialised service centre, and at advanced wear the cutter body can be re-tipped.
  • Maximum Flexibility: 2 diameters × 3 materials × 2 working positions — select the exact combination for your machine and project.

💡 HOW TO CHOOSE THE WORKING POSITION:

– Above the workpiece – you can check the profile visually while cutting; recommended for manual work with feed controlled from above.
– Below the workpiece – shavings and chips are thrown straight down; the finished face stays protected while it slides on the moulder table.

⚠️ USAGE LIMITATIONS:

  • DS Steel variant: ❌ NOT recommended for particleboard, MDF, HDF or hard/exotic wood – intended for softwood only (conifers, lime).
  • HSS M2 variant: ❌ not recommended for particleboard, MDF, HDF or very hard exotic wood – synthetic binders wear the high-speed steel edge prematurely.
  • HW (K40) variant on softwood: requires a constant feed rate – letting the cutter dwell in resinous species can cause local burning.

💡 Buying recommendations:
  1. Tight budget, softwood only? Choose DS Steel – the lowest cost for fir, spruce or pine.
  2. Working fir, spruce or pine in medium volume? Choose HSS M2 – clean white finish, no burn marks, more durable than DS.
  3. Working oak, beech, MDF or particleboard? Choose HW (K40) – withstands the abrasive wear of hardwoods and synthetic binders.

🦺 SAFETY MEASURES:

  • Mandatory protective equipment: safety glasses (against flying chips), a respirator mask or filter (fine wood dust) and hearing protection for extended work.
  • Keep hands and fingers clear: always use a push stick or power feeder; never guide the workpiece by hand close to the cutter.
  • Check the cutter orientation before starting the machine – the “Above” and “Below” variants are not interchangeable; incorrect mounting produces a wrong profile.
  • Check the mounting of the cutter on the spindle and that the nut is fully tightened before starting.
  • Observe the recommended speed of 6,000 RPM.
