Bearing Router Bit for Edge Rounding – T.C.T. Carbide | R5 mm | D20 mm | Z2

Shank router bit with T.C.T. (Carbide) guide bearing, with two active cutting edges (Z2), for rounding edges with a quarter-round R5 mm profile. The bearing mounted at the tip faithfully follows the contour of the material — without guide rails, directly on the edge of the workpiece, including curved shapes, round tables, or irregular countertops. Available with Ø6 mm or Ø8 mm shank — select from the menu.

✨ CONSTRUCTION ADVANTAGES:

  • Guide Bearing – No Auxiliary Guides: The bearing faithfully follows the contour of the workpiece, including curved shapes, round tables, countertops, or arches — impossible to achieve with a standard parallel guide.
  • T.C.T. Carbide – No Burning: Carbide inserts ensure clean cutting without tearing and resist abrasive wear excellently on chipboard, MDF, plastic, and solid wood.
  • Profile with or without Step: By setting the router bit depth 0.5–1 mm deeper than the board surface, a small aesthetic step above the radius is created — a classic cornice appearance.
  • Symmetrical Z2 – Minimal Vibrations: The two balanced cutting edges eliminate idle vibrations and protect the router's bearings.
  • Interchangeable Bearing: Can be replaced separately when worn, without changing the router bit.

📊 MATERIAL COMPATIBILITY

Soft Solid Wood (Spruce, Fir, Pine, Linden) 100%

Excellent: clean rounding, no tearing, smooth edge directly ready for varnishing.
Chipboard / MDF / HDF / Plywood 100%

Excellent: carbide resists abrasive synthetic binders in derived panels.
Hard Solid Wood (Oak, Beech, Ash) 90%

Very good: we recommend two passes — a fast one for the bulk of the material, a fine one for a mirror finish.
Technical Plastics 85%

Good: lower speed recommended to avoid melting the plastic.

🛠️ ADJUSTMENT AND OPERATION TIPS:

  • Simple rounding vs. stepped profile: For simple rounding, align the top edge of the cutter with the board surface. For a decorative stepped profile, lower the router bit by 0.5–1 mm — achieving a classic cornice look.
  • Two passes on hardwoods: For oak, beech, or ash, do not force in a single slow pass (risk of scorching). The first quick pass removes the bulk of the material, the second fine pass gives a mirror finish.
  • Bearing maintenance: After working on resinous wood (pine, spruce) or MDF, clean the bearing of resin deposits with a degreasing spray and apply a drop of fine oil — ensure free rotation without friction marks on the edge.
