Spiral Log Splitter Cone (Screw Type) | Fully Heat Treated

Prepare your firewood quickly, mechanically, and effortlessly. At SolGrat, we have designed the screw-type splitting cone from a single piece of solid steel, specially to withstand knots and hard wood (oak, beech, hornbeam). The threaded profile instantly grips the log and splits it by lateral force, minimizing working times in the household or farm.

✅ TECHNICAL DETAILS AND DIRECT ADVANTAGES:

  • Fully Heat Treated: The cone is hardened throughout (from end to end), not just at the tip! This gives it extreme structural strength. It doesn't dull, doesn't deform, and can be resharpened without problems over the years with a fine file or grinder.
  • Standardized Dimensions: Regardless of the chosen base diameter (Ø60, Ø70, Ø80 or Ø100 mm), all cones have a total length of 230 mm, of which the threaded attack zone measures exactly 170 mm for deep and rapid penetration.
  • LEFT-Hand Thread (Universal Standard): The correct configuration for machinery where the shaft/PTO rotates clockwise (Japanese Kubota, Yanmar, Iseki tractors or Chinese and Russian tractors). For electric motors, the direction is adjusted extremely simply by reversing the phases or electrical connections.
  • Standard bore in stock: Pre-drilled inner holes of 28 mm, 30 mm or 32 mm.
  • 🛠️ MODIFICATION ON REQUEST: Do you have a shaft with atypical dimensions? We will bore the inner hole exactly to your specified dimensions, at no additional cost, to fit your machine perfectly.

🚀 SMART MODIFICATION: IS YOUR MOTOR TOO WEAK?

If you have an electric motor with limited power and are worried that it will get stuck in large logs, we have the professional solution! You can mount the cone on a special shaft with a cast iron flywheel in the middle. The flywheel accumulates kinetic energy during rotation and **massively multiplies the splitting force** of the cone upon impact with the wood, while protecting the motor from direct shocks.

💡 CALCULATION TABLE: How to choose the motor based on the cone diameter?

To avoid the cone getting stuck in the wood or burning out a classic electric motor (without a flywheel), respect the power correlation:

Cone Diameter at Base Working Capacity & Purpose Minimum Motor Power
Ø 60 mm Household, small and medium-sized wood, soft/dry essences. Min. 2.2 kW
Ø 70 mm / Ø 80 mm Universal use, medium-large logs, including hard essences (beech, oak). Min. 3.0 kW - 4.0 kW
Ø 100 mm Professional level, huge and knotty logs, intensive use. Min. 5.5 kW (Three-phase) / Tractor

*Factory technical note: The optimal recommended speed at the cone shaft is between 400 and 600 RPM. If you are using a 1400 or 2800 RPM motor, you must use a pulley reduction with belts to increase the splitting torque!

⚠️ ATTENTION (CRITICAL RULES FOR YOUR SAFETY):

  • MANDATORY: Under the cone, on the work table, a guide knife (steel wedge) must be welded. Its role is to prevent the log from rotating. Without this wedge, the wood will spin violently with the motor and cause serious hand injuries!
  • Wood positioning: The log should always be pressed towards the cone vertically (along the grain) or from the side, NEVER from the tip of the cone horizontally towards the shaft.
  • Protection: Do not work with loose gloves that can get caught in the spiral thread of the cone while pushing the wood.
