Grooving and Rebating Cutter with Pre-cutter | Ø125 mm | T.C.T. Carbide

Professional bore cutter for grooving and rebating with impeccable edges, featuring a structurally integrated pre-cutting system. Unlike standard cutters, the Z9 knife model (3 pre-cutters on each flank) cleanly severs the outer wood fibers before the actual channel is evacuated, completely eliminating micro-chipping and edge breakage — even when cutting perpendicular to the grain. Available in individual fixed thicknesses from 4 to 60 mm, each variant being a separate cutter with a standard thickness.

🚀 DYNAMIC PROPERTIES AND PERFORMANCE:

  • Pre-cutter Technology for Impeccable Edges: pre-cutter blades positioned on both flanks cleanly sever the outer fibers before the channel is evacuated, completely preventing micro-chipping and edge breakage even in perpendicular grain processing.
  • Resistance to Abrasive Materials: tungsten carbide (Carbide) with hardness up to 92 HRC withstands the binders and adhesives in MDF, melamine particleboard, HDF, OSB, and composite panels, materials that would instantly wear down high-speed steel.
  • Precise Grooving: execution of internal channels with a flat bottom and clean edges, without tear-out, even perpendicular to the grain.
  • Rebating with Pre-cutter: the side pre-cutters ensure clean rebating at the edge of the workpiece, eliminating chipping or tearing of fibers when the tool exits.
  • Universal for Wood and Derived Panels: suitable for both solid wood and MDF, particleboard, HDF, and laminates.
  • Sustainable Investment: in case of advanced wear, the cutter body can be re-brazed with new inserts at a specialized center.

⚠️ CRITICAL OPERATING RULES (T.C.T. CARBIDE):

  • Optimal Application: specifically designed for MDF, particleboard, HDF, laminated wood, hardwoods, and composite materials.
  • Softwood Caution: ❌ for very soft wood (fir, spruce), the tool requires a fast and constant feed rate!
  • Avoid Overheating: dwelling in place with the cutter in direct rotation on resinous woods can cause local burns due to the specific friction of carbide metal.

📊 COMPATIBILITY LEVEL BY MATERIAL TYPE (T.C.T. CARBIDE)

MDF / Particleboard / HDF / Laminates 100%

Optimal: resists abrasive wear from synthetic binders; clean edges due to pre-cutters.
Hardwood (Beech, Oak, Ash) 100%

Excellent: cutting edge lasts for thousands of meters, including transverse grain processing.
Composite & Exotic Materials 100%

Maximum: the recommended choice for demanding applications.
Softwood (Fir, Spruce, Pine) Fast Feed Required

Functional, but with risk of friction burn if feed is not constant and fast.

💡 For predominant work on softwoods (fir, spruce, pine), the equivalent variant with HSS M2 inserts is also available.

🦺 SAFETY MEASURES FOR USE:

  • Mandatory protective equipment: safety glasses (against projected chips), mask or respirator filter (fine wood and MDF/particleboard dust), and ear protection for prolonged work.
  • Hand and finger safety: maintain a safe distance from the cutting area and use feed/push devices where possible; do not manually intervene near the moving cutter.
  • Maintain a constant feed rate, especially on softwood, to avoid the cutter dwelling in rotation and the risk of fiber burning.
  • Check the cutter's secure attachment to the spindle before starting the machine.
  • Observe the recommended RPM of 6,000 – do not exceed this value to avoid vibrations or damage to the inserts.
