✅ Choose the right variant for your project:

HSS M2 Variant (Premium High-Speed Steel):

  • Ideal for: Softwood (Spruce, Fir, Pine) or hardwood (Beech, Oak).
  • Advantage: Provides the finest wood finish, leaving the surface perfectly smooth, ready for lacquering.

Widia Variant (CMS - Cemented Carbide):

  • Ideal for: MDF, melamine-faced chipboard, layered wood, or hard exotic woods.
  • Advantage: Extreme resistance to abrasive materials and extended cutting edge life.

💎 Why choose Solgrat router bit for handles?

  • Perfect Ergonomics: The profile is designed to provide a comfortable and secure grip.
  • Versatility: Can be used along the entire edge length or only on a limited section.
  • Dynamic Balance: The body of the router bit is precisely machined to eliminate vibrations, protecting your machine's bearings.

💡 Usage Tip: For an impeccable result on hardwoods, we recommend constant feed rate and, where applicable, a 0.5 mm finishing pass.

Advantages:

➤ Fine, precise, and consistent cut

➤ Easy to resharpen (HSS variant)

➤ Low risk of burning on natural wood

➤ Suitable for traditional woodworking shops and hobby CNC machines

⚠️ Usage Limitations:

❌ We do not recommend the HSS variant for chipboard, MDF, HDF, or very hard exotic wood

❌ For composite materials or demanding applications, choose the Widia insert variant

HSS COMPATIBILITY:

The router bit can be mounted on most standard routing machines, being suitable for both manual work and CNC machines with moderate feed rates.

HSS M2 Compatibility Explanations (%):

90–80%: Optimal performance, the router bit works efficiently and durably.

79–60%: Good processing, but requires maintenance (sharpening or cooling).

<60%: The wood is too hard or oily, leading to rapid wear of the HSS M2 router bit.

Recommendation: For exotic or very hard woods, cemented carbide (Widia) router bits would be a more suitable choice.

WIDIA COMPATIBILITY:

Compatibility Explanations (%) for Cemented Carbide (Widia) Router Bits:

92–85%: Exceptional performance, the router bit works efficiently, with a long lifespan even under intensive use conditions.

84–70%: Very good processing, but minor adjustments may be necessary, such as feed rate or using a cooling liquid to prevent overheating.

70%: The wood is extremely abrasive (e.g., very hard species or those with high silica content), which can accelerate cutting edge wear, although durability remains superior to HSS router bits.

Recommendation: For the hardest wood species (exotic, high-density, or rich in mineral resins), Widia router bits are the ideal solution due to their high hardness (85…92 HRC / 1600 – 1800 HV Vickers), offering exceptional wear resistance and high temperature tolerance.
