The professional concave quarter-round router bit R40 (HM/Carbide) is designed for precise edge profiling, making it the ideal tool for achieving perfect external roundings.
Equipped with brazed carbide inserts, this router bit is specially optimized for working with composite materials such as particleboard or MDF, as well as for hardwood species, where standard HSS tools would wear out quickly. The robust construction ensures a clean cut, without tear-out, and a much longer cutting edge life under intensive use, maintaining the precision of the R40 profile even after prolonged use.
⚠️ The router bit is available in two cutting directions:
Right (above the wood) and Left (below the wood) – so you can choose the optimal variant for your feed direction and machine configuration.
Features and Benefits:
✅ 40 mm concave radius – ideal for deep profiles, flutes, and decorative shapes
✅ Premium HSS M2 – durable plates, consistent performance, and long lifespan
✅ Clean and precise cutting – optimized geometry for a smooth finish without fiber tearing
✅ High versatility – suitable for furniture, architectural elements, and artisanal processing
✅ Stability in operation – balanced body, ideal for professional machines with standard bore
📌 Choose the appropriate cutting direction (right or left) and achieve perfect contours for solid wood projects.
⚠️ Limitations in use:
❌ We do not recommend the HSS variant for particleboard, MDF, HDF, or very hard exotic wood
❌ For composite materials or demanding applications, choose the variant with carbide inserts
🛠️ Selection Guide: HSS vs. CARBIDE (Brazed Tools)
Material choice depends not only on wood hardness but also on how the cutting edge interacts with the grain. Our brazed router bits are optimized for stationary and CNC machines, but their performance varies drastically depending on the wood species being processed.

✅ Acquisition Conclusions:
- Standard HSS: Exclusively for very soft wood (Spruce, Fir, Pine, Linden). Economical, fine cut.
- HSS M2: The "king" of softwoods. Guarantees immaculate white without burning. Also works on Oak/Beech for a mirror finish, but wears faster.
- Carbide (CMS): Mandatory for hard/exotic wood (Oak, Beech, Mahogany) and derivatives (MDF, Particleboard, Laminate). Lasts thousands of meters without sharpening.
⚠️ Attention: Carbide requires constant feed rate. If you stop rotating on soft wood, burning is guaranteed.
