Raised Panel Cutter – DS Steel | DIY
Profiled router bit for creating raised panels on a stationary table router. Frequently used in the production of solid wood doors (central panel), furniture with raised panels (cabinet fronts, drawers, interior doors with decorative panels). Available in two model positioning variants – above the wood or below the wood – selectable directly from the product page.

🚀 PROPERTIES AND PERFORMANCE:
- Robust and Balanced Body: made of heat-treated steel, the tool body eliminates vibrations, protecting machine bearings and ensuring smooth finishes.
- Professional Z4 Configuration: the 4 active cutting edges uniformly distribute the cutting force, allowing for constant feed without material tear-out, even in knotty areas.
- Durable Brazing: the inserts are fixed with brass alloy (Cu-Zn), which withstands high torsional forces during deep profiling.
- Resharpenable: the generous tooth profile allows for repeated resharpening, reducing long-term maintenance costs.
- Dual Model Orientation: choosing the "above the wood" or "below the wood" variant allows adaptation to the type of machine and preferred working method.
💡 How to choose model orientation:
– Above the wood – visually control the profile during milling; recommended for manual work with controlled overhead feed.
– Below the wood – sawdust and chips are thrown directly downwards; the workpiece finish remains protected while sliding on the router table.
⚠️ LIMITATIONS IN USE (DS STEEL):
- Purpose: recommended exclusively for soft to medium natural solid wood.
- Not recommended for Composites: ❌ NOT recommended for use on chipboard, MDF, HDF, exotic wood, or derivative panels with abrasive adhesive!
- Hardwood (oak, beech): DS Steel blade wear is significantly faster than on softwoods — resharpening will be more frequent.

Softwood (Spruce, Fir, Pine) 90%
Very good: clean cut, pleasant finish, ideal for DIY projects.
Medium Wood (Cherry, Walnut, Linden) 65%
Acceptable: good results, with more frequent resharpening.
Hardwood (Beech, Oak, Ash) 40%
Rapid blade wear — frequent resharpening increases maintenance costs.
Chipboard / MDF / HDF / Plywood Not Recommended
Synthetic binder prematurely wears out the DS Steel blade.
🦺 SAFETY MEASURES IN USE:
- Mandatory protective equipment: safety glasses (against projected chips), mask or respirator filter (fine wood dust), and ear protection for prolonged work.
- Beware of hands and fingers: always use a feed/push device; do not guide the workpiece manually with hands near the cutter.
- Check cutter orientation before starting the machine – the "above" and "below the wood" variants are not interchangeable; incorrect mounting produces an incorrect profile.
- Check cutter fixation on the shaft and complete tightening of the nut before starting.
- Observe the recommended speed of 6,000 RPM – exceeding it increases the risk of vibrations and blade damage.
