Why choose the SolGrat HSS Premium Overlay Paneling Set?

  • Elegant Overlay V-Groove Profile: Unlike classic tongue-and-groove paneling, this set is geometrically designed for creating paneling with a partial overlap joint. At the intersection, the beveled faces create a clean "V" shape, ideal for modern facades, exterior cladding, or minimalist interior design.
  • Smart Multi-Thickness Geometry (14 - 25 mm): The ingenious configuration of the two brazed monoblock router bits allows processing of any board thickness between 14 and 25 mm without needing to dismantle the tool or use spacer rings. Adjustment is extremely simple, done exclusively by adjusting the height of the machine's spindle.
  • High-Performance HSS M2 Cutting Edge: Factory plating with premium high-speed steel (alloyed with 6.5% Tungsten) provides extreme hardness of 64-66 HRC. The cutting edge remains perfectly sharp, eliminating the risk of fiber tear-out or knots and guaranteeing an immaculate white wood finish, ready for painting or lacquering.
  • Industrial Brazing with Silver Alloy (Ag): The teeth are bonded by an automated process with a silver-based alloy. This structure excellent dampens vibrations during cutting, protects the tool against micro-cracks, and offers perfect dynamic stability.

💡 TECHNICAL ADJUSTMENT RECOMMENDATION FOR CRAFTSMEN:

Quick adjustment directly from the spindle: Switching from one board thickness to another is achieved exclusively by vertically raising or lowering the spindle of your machine (stationary router or 4-sided machine). Due to the extended design of the knife at the bottom, the oblique profile and the overlapping step naturally adapt to the wooden piece, saving valuable time in setting up the production line.

⚠️ Limitations in use and maintenance (Solid HSS M2 Range):

❌ NOT recommended for extremely abrasive composite materials such as laminated chipboard or MDF (these exclusively require Carbide)!

✅ Excellent for Softwood (Spruce, Fir, Pine, Linden) and Hardwood (Beech, Oak, Ash, Maple).

🛠️ Professional Selection Guide: DS Steel vs. HSS vs. Carbide

Choosing the correct material directly influences the wear resistance of the teeth and the quality of the finish depending on the wood species. Consult the comparative table:

Material Processed DS Steel ⭐
(Standard DIY)
HSS M2 Premium ⭐
(This Router Bit)
T.C.T. Carbide ⭐
(Tungsten Carbide)
Softwood
(Spruce, Fir, Pine, Linden)
90%
(Good / Economically Optimal)
⭐ 100%
(Impeccable finish, no burns)
❌ Risk of burning
(Due to local friction)
Hardwood
(Beech, Oak, Ash)
40%
(Requires frequent sharpening)
80%
(Efficient and resistant)
⭐ 100%
(Maximum structural performance)
MDF / Chipboard / HDF / Laminated Not recommended Not recommended 100%
(Industrial optimal)
Number of Resharpenings Standard (Usual) Maximum (M2 resharpenable) Limited by brazing
Cutting Edge Material Hardness 58 – 61 HRC 64 – 66 HRC 85 – 92 HRC

✅ Practical conclusions for purchase:

  1. Standard HSS: Recommended exclusively for very soft woods (Spruce, Fir, Pine). It is an economical option, with a fine cutting edge.
  2. Premium HSS M2: Represents the "King" of softwood processing. Guarantees an immaculate, clean white finish, without specific burns. Also performs excellently on Oak/Beech for a mirror-like finish, although it requires more frequent sharpening on hardwoods.
  3. Carbide (TCT): Becomes mandatory for laminated or agglomerated panels (MDF, chipboard) and extremely hard/exotic woods, where it lasts for thousands of linear meters without problems. Caution: Carbide requires constant feed; stopping in rotation on softwood guarantees the appearance of burns.
