Stave Milling Cutters (Concave-Convex Profile) 22 / 30 / 42 / 46 mm – HSS M2

Professional milling cutter set for making staves for hot tubs, tubs, saunas, barrels, rounded furniture, or solid wood boats (kayaks, canoes). The concave-convex profile is precisely calculated to ensure each stave perfectly interlocks with the next, eliminating gaps and leaks. Available in 4 thickness variants – 22, 30, 42, or 46 mm – to perfectly suit your project.

🛠️ WHY CHOOSE THIS SET:

  • Perfect Sealing: the concave-convex profile is precisely calculated so that each stave fits perfectly with its neighbor, eliminating gaps and leaks.
  • Durable Premium HSS M2: high-speed steel cutting edges resist intense wear and provide deep, clean cuts without burning the wood fiber.
  • Full Range of Thicknesses: 22, 30, 42, and 46 mm cover most projects, from curved furniture to large tubs and hot tubs.
  • Double Machine Compatibility: can be mounted on both spindle moulders (single head) and 4-sided machines, for flexible integration into your workshop.
  • Long-Term Investment: the inserts can be successively resharpened at a specialized center, and in case of advanced wear, the cutter body can be re-brazed with new inserts.

🔧 Recommended for: tubs and hot tubs for saunas/spas, sturdy barrels, curved furniture, as well as wooden boats (kayaks, canoes).

⚠️ USAGE LIMITATIONS:

  • Exclusive Purpose: this range is made exclusively from HSS M2 and is intended for processing natural solid wood (softwoods such as spruce, fir, pine, but also hardwoods).
  • Not Recommended for Composites: ❌ NOT recommended for use on chipboard, MDF, HDF, or other wood-based panels with abrasive adhesive. The synthetic binder prematurely wears out the high-speed steel cutting edge.
  • This range is not available in T.C.T. (Tungsten Carbide Tipped) variant. For applications on composite materials, please contact us to check the availability of other solutions.

📊 COMPATIBILITY LEVEL BY MATERIAL TYPE (HSS M2)

Softwood (Spruce, Fir, Pine) 100%
Excellent: deep and clean cut, no burning on the fiber.
Hardwood (Beech, Oak, Ash) 75%
Good: solid results, but the cutting edge wears out faster than on softwoods.
Chipboard / MDF / HDF / Laminate Not Recommended
The synthetic binder in these materials prematurely wears out the HSS cutting edge.

🦺 SAFETY MEASURES IN USE:

  • Mandatory protective equipment: safety glasses (against flying chips), mask or respirator (fine wood dust), and ear protection for prolonged work.
  • Beware of hands and fingers: maintain a safe distance from the cutting area and use push devices where possible; do not manually intervene near moving cutters.
  • Check the correct pair: before starting production, ensure that the convex and concave profile cutters correspond to the same thickness variant, for a tight stave joint.
  • Check the fastening of the cutters on the spindle (including any reduction bushings) before starting the machine.
  • Observe the recommended RPM of 9,000 RPM, to avoid vibrations or the risk of cutting edge breakage.
