✨ TECHNICAL ADVANTAGES:
- Z1 Flute – Fast Chip Evacuation: a single cutting edge leaves a large gullet for clearing material from the groove, reducing the risk of overheating at full depth.
- HW (K40) – Maximum Versatility: the carbide edge handles solid wood (soft and hard) as well as wood-based panels (MDF, chipboard, plywood), without the rapid wear of high-speed steel.
- Full Diameter Range (D3–D6 mm): from very fine grooves (hardware recesses, drawer bottoms) to wider slots, all with the same 12 mm cutting depth.
- Two Shank Options: Ø6 mm (D3–D5) and Ø8 mm (D3–D6), to fit the standard collets of most routers and CNC machines.
⚠️ RECOMMENDATIONS AND LIMITATIONS:
- Successive Passes on Small Diameters: on D3 and D4 mm, the small diameter-to-depth ratio (Lc 12 mm) makes the bit sensitive to side load — cut deep grooves in successive passes of 3–4 mm at a moderate feed rate to avoid breaking the bit.
- D5 and D6 mm tolerate a firmer feed, but progressive passes to the full 12 mm depth are still recommended for a clean finish.
- HW (K40) on softwood: requires a constant feed – letting the spinning bit dwell in one spot on resinous wood (fir, spruce) can cause local burn marks.
- Not suitable for: full depth in a single pass or operations with heavy side load.
📊 COMPATIBILITY BY MATERIAL (HW K40)
Optimal: withstands the abrasive wear of synthetic binders, clean and precise groove.
Excellent: the carbide holds up in dense species, perfectly flat groove bottom.
Good: works well, but needs a constant feed to avoid friction burns.
Maximum: the recommended choice for demanding materials.
🦺 SAFETY:
- Mandatory protective equipment: safety glasses (chips thrown at high speed), dust mask or respirator (fine MDF/wood dust) and hearing protection.
- Successive passes: do not attempt the full 12 mm depth in one pass, especially with D3 and D4 mm – you risk breaking the bit and throwing fragments.
- Check the collet grip: the shank must be fully inserted and correctly tightened before starting – a loosely held bit vibrates and can pull out of the collet during work.
- Keep a constant feed and do not let the spinning bit dwell in one spot.
- Protect your hands: on shank router bits the cutting zone is closer to your hands than on bore cutters – use fences and workpiece clamping devices.
