Bore Shaper Cutters for Convex, Concave and Rounding Radius
SolGrat's range of radius cutters covers the round and bevelled profiles essential in joinery – from rounding furniture edges to joining hot tub and sauna staves. They are designed for vertical-spindle moulders and are available in HSS M2 or HW (K40), depending on the material.
Available Profiles
- 🔹 Concave quarter-round cutters (radius up / radius down), R3–R60 mm – rounding edges on worktops, stair treads and furniture, with no sharp corners.
- 🔹 Convex half-round cutter R3–R60 mm – cuts a concave groove (cove) in wood, for decorative grooves and recessed handles.
- 🔹 Concave half-round cutter R4–R60 mm – cuts a convex profile (round bead) on the workpiece edge.
- 🔹 Hot tub and sauna cutter set 22–46 mm – complementary concave-convex profile for tight stave joints in hot tubs, tubs and barrels.
- 🔹 Adjustable rounding / chamfer cutter set 20–50 mm (FRT2050) – edge rounding and chamfering on variable thicknesses.
Cutting Edge Material
- HSS M2 (6% W · 5% Mo, 63–65 HRC) – solid softwood (fir, spruce, pine): clean cut, no torn fibres.
- HW (K40) – tungsten carbide – hardwoods (oak, beech, ash) and MDF/chipboard; available on selected models, see each product's variants.
The cutting edges are brazed to the cutter body and can be resharpened several times at a specialist service. For cornice and frame profiles, see Decorative Profile Cutters.
