Set of 6 cutters, grouped 3 + 3, for the classic straight tongue and groove joint, designed for 4-sided moulders and spindle moulders with a Ø40 mm shaft. The groove group cuts a 6 mm wide × 9 mm deep groove, and the tongue group forms a 6 mm thick × 8 mm long tongue. The 1 mm difference automatically leaves an expansion gap at the bottom of the groove, so the boards close tightly on the shoulders without bottoming out on the tip of the tongue. Each cutter has 4 cutting edges (Z4). For workpieces 25 – 30 mm thick.

✨ ADVANTAGES OF THE SET:

Tight shoulders, no visible gap: the 1 mm gap at the bottom of the groove lets the boards close perfectly on the faces, with no visible gap on the surface.
Built-in expansion gap: the wood can move with changes in humidity and temperature without cracking or lifting the joint.
Z4 on every cutter: 4 cutting edges per cutter – fine, clean finish even at the high feed rates of 4-sided moulders.
Strong 6 mm tongue: enough cross-section for solid flooring and panels, resistant to bending during installation.
HSS M2 for softwood: clean finish with no burning on fir, spruce and pine – the usual species for flooring and cladding.
Long-term investment: the cutting edges can be resharpened repeatedly, and the cutter can be re-brazed when heavily worn.

⚠️ LIMITATIONS OF USE:

Materials: ❌ not recommended for chipboard, MDF, HDF or hard exotic wood – binders and very dense species wear the HSS edge quickly.
Workpiece thickness: the set is sized for 25 – 30 mm stock.

🛠️ SETUP RECOMMENDATIONS:

Height alignment: set both groups so the groove and the tongue sit at the same height from the table – otherwise the board faces will not be flush.
Test on offcuts: check the joint on two test pieces before series production.
Steady feed: a uniform feed rate prevents chatter marks and overheating of the cutting edge.

🦺 SAFETY MEASURES:

Mandatory protective equipment: safety glasses (flying chips), dust mask or respirator (fine wood dust) and hearing protection for prolonged work.
Mind your hands and fingers: use guides and feeders/push devices when machining boards; never guide the workpiece by hand near the cutter.
Check the mounting of the cutters on the shaft and full tightening of the nut before starting.
Observe the recommended speed (6,000 – 9,000 RPM) to avoid vibration or damage to the cutting edge.
Resharpening: we recommend a specialised service, to keep the groove and tongue dimensions and the 1 mm gap.
